Getting started with Goods Code Watch

What the app does, who it helps and how to make your first lookup.

What is Goods Code Watch?

Goods Code Watch helps you recheck EU import measures for a known 10-digit goods code, country of origin and reference date. It presents a dated worksheet of stored measures, conditions and footnotes, with a link to the official TARIC consultation. The SKU workbench checks code-and-origin pairs from a spreadsheet. Watch and API are the subscription plans for monitoring and integration.

Who is the app for?

It is designed for people who repeatedly work with known import codes: small-business import coordinators, purchasing and logistics teams, business owners and customs brokers. You bring the code and origin you need to check. A product description alone is not enough to establish the correct customs classification.

Link to this answer: Who is the app for?

Can I use it free without an account?

Yes. Public goods-code search and dated worksheets do not require an account. The public SKU workbench also previews the first 5 matched rows. A free Lookup account does not add persistent watches or REST API access.

How do I look up EU import measures?

Enter your 10-digit goods code and the two-letter code of the goods’ origin on the home page, then select a reference date and open the worksheet. Read both the reference date and last TARIC file date. Review all relevant groups, conditions and footnotes, then use the worksheet’s DDS2 link to verify the official consultation.

Can the app find or classify a product’s TARIC code for me?

Search can help you find stored goods-code descriptions, but it does not make a classification decision or confirm that a code fits your product. Classification can depend on composition, function, manufacturing and other details. If you do not know your code, consult the official classification resources, your customs adviser or the customs authorities.

Link to this answer: Can the app find or classify a product’s TARIC code for me?

Is Goods Code Watch an official EU or customs service?

No. It is an independent service published by Snoeters Software. It uses European Commission TARIC source data but is not affiliated with the Commission, DG TAXUD or TARIC. The worksheet is a transformed, dated reprint; it is not the authentic legal record.

Link to this answer: Is Goods Code Watch an official EU or customs service?

Does the app calculate the total customs duty or landed cost?

No. It reproduces stored duty expressions and related measures; it does not calculate the amount payable for a shipment. Customs value, quantity, currency, origin evidence, reliefs, national taxes and other facts can affect the result. There is no landed-cost, import-VAT or Meursing calculator.

Link to this answer: Does the app calculate the total customs duty or landed cost?

Can I use a worksheet as a customs declaration or clearance approval?

No. The app neither files declarations nor approves goods for clearance. A worksheet, an empty result or a change email does not establish that goods may be imported or that every obligation has been met. Verify the official record and the applicable legislation before acting.

Link to this answer: Can I use a worksheet as a customs declaration or clearance approval?

Does it cover exports, national taxes or every customs obligation?

The app focuses on selected Union import measures from the stored TARIC extract. It is not a complete export-control, sanctions, product-compliance or national-tax service. TARIC does not contain national VAT and excise rates. A public worksheet should be read within that scope.

Link to this answer: Does it cover exports, national taxes or every customs obligation?

Goods codes, TARIC, HS, CN and origin

The identifiers and classification terms you will meet when checking a product.

What does TARIC mean?

TARIC is the European Union’s integrated tariff. It brings together EU tariff, commercial and agricultural measures in a multilingual database. Goods Code Watch uses TARIC as its data source; TARIC is not this app’s brand.

Link to this answer: What does TARIC mean?

What is an HS code?

The Harmonized System (HS) is the international goods-classification system maintained by the World Customs Organization. Its internationally harmonized subheading codes have six digits. An HS code is the starting point for more detailed EU classification, rather than the full 10-digit code needed for this app’s worksheets.

Link to this answer: What is an HS code?

What is a CN code?

The Combined Nomenclature (CN) is the EU’s eight-digit goods classification, based on the HS. It supports the Common Customs Tariff and EU trade statistics. Its seventh and eighth digits provide EU subdivisions of the six-digit HS code.

Link to this answer: What is a CN code?

What is a 10-digit TARIC goods code?

A TARIC goods code extends the eight-digit CN code with two further digits. The app uses this 10-digit identifier to find a declarable goods entry and the stored measures for a selected origin and date. Additional codes, where a measure needs them, are separate identifiers.

Link to this answer: What is a 10-digit TARIC goods code?

Are goods code, commodity code and tariff code the same thing?

These terms are often used for goods-classification identifiers, but the number of digits and the jurisdiction matter. In this app, “goods code” means a 10-digit EU TARIC code. A supplier’s six-digit HS code, an eight-digit CN code or a code used outside the EU may need further classification before it can be used here.

Link to this answer: Are goods code, commodity code and tariff code the same thing?

What are a chapter, heading and subheading?

They are levels in the goods-classification hierarchy. An HS chapter uses two digits, a heading four and an HS subheading six. CN and TARIC add more detailed EU subdivisions. Reading a broader heading alone may miss the distinctions needed for the final product code.

Link to this answer: What are a chapter, heading and subheading?

What does nomenclature mean?

A nomenclature is an organized system of goods codes, descriptions and their relationships. A code’s validity dates and place in that hierarchy matter. The app checks its stored nomenclature when resolving a worksheet; it does not assume that any ten-digit number is an existing goods code.

Link to this answer: What does nomenclature mean?

What is a declarable code or leaf code?

In the app, this is a final goods-code entry rather than a broader parent heading. A parent may carry measures that apply to its children without itself being the code to declare. A code-only page helps you select an origin; a worksheet requires a code that resolves for the reference date.

Link to this answer: What is a declarable code or leaf code?

Can I enter only six or eight digits?

Use the confirmed full 10-digit TARIC code. The app may normalize short numeric input, but padding digits cannot determine the correct TARIC subdivision. Do not treat automatic formatting as classification. Preserve leading zeros when copying codes from a spreadsheet.

Link to this answer: Can I enter only six or eight digits?

What does country of origin mean?

Origin is the economic nationality of goods under the applicable origin rules. It can differ from the seller’s country, dispatch country or location of a warehouse. The app uses the origin you select to match stored geographical measures; it does not determine or certify the origin of your goods.

Link to this answer: What does country of origin mean?

What is the difference between preferential and non-preferential origin?

Non-preferential origin is used for ordinary trade-policy treatment, including some trade remedies. Preferential origin concerns eligibility under a preferential arrangement and its rules. Selecting a country in the app does not prove either form of origin or satisfy the evidence required to claim a preference.

Link to this answer: What is the difference between preferential and non-preferential origin?

Which origin format should I enter?

Use the two-letter country or territory code accepted by the app’s stored country list, such as GH for Ghana or KE for Kenya. Do not enter a full country name, supplier name or regional group in the origin field. The worksheet may show broader geographical groups where the source measure applies to a group.

Link to this answer: Which origin format should I enter?

What are the Common Customs Tariff and Union measures?

The Common Customs Tariff is the EU’s common external customs-tariff framework. “Union measures” means measures established at EU level. The app presents selected stored import measures from that framework; member-state taxes and shipment-specific obligations may require separate checks.

Link to this answer: What are the Common Customs Tariff and Union measures?

What are DG TAXUD and DDS2?

DG TAXUD is the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union. DDS2 TARIC Consultation is the Commission’s official online tariff consultation. Each worksheet provides a DDS2 link carrying the goods code, origin and reference date so you can compare the same query with the official service.

Link to this answer: What are DG TAXUD and DDS2?

Import measures and duty terminology

Plain-language explanations of worksheet fields. They help you read the record; they do not decide eligibility for a shipment.

What is an import measure or measure type?

A measure is a stored tariff or regulatory rule associated with goods, a geographical scope and validity dates. Its type identifies the kind of rule. The app groups rows into third-country duty, tariff preferences, tariff quotas, trade remedies and other restrictions; groups with no rows are omitted.

Link to this answer: What is an import measure or measure type?

What is third-country duty?

This is the ordinary customs duty recorded for imports from outside the EU, subject to the relevant tariff rules. A preferential rate or other treatment may be available under separate conditions. Do not assume that the third-country rate is the only measure affecting the goods.

Link to this answer: What is third-country duty?

What is a tariff preference?

A tariff preference is a reduced or zero rate available under a preferential arrangement when its requirements are met. A displayed preference is a recorded option, not confirmation that your shipment qualifies. Verify the origin rules, proof requirements and any other conditions.

Link to this answer: What is a tariff preference?

What is a tariff quota?

A tariff quota allows a limited quantity of specified goods to enter at a reduced or zero duty during a defined period. A row in the worksheet shows a recorded quota measure, not a reservation, allocation or guarantee of remaining quantity.

Link to this answer: What is a tariff quota?

What is a quota order number, and can I see the remaining balance?

A quota order number identifies a particular tariff quota. Goods Code Watch may display that identifier but does not provide a live quota balance or allocate quota. Check the official QUOTA service and the applicable administration rules before relying on availability.

Link to this answer: What is a quota order number, and can I see the remaining balance?

What is a tariff suspension?

A tariff suspension removes or reduces ordinary duty for specified goods under its conditions. It is distinct from a quota’s quantity limit. Check the goods description, validity and any end-use or documentary requirements; the app does not approve a claim for suspension.

Link to this answer: What is a tariff suspension?

What is an anti-dumping duty?

An anti-dumping duty is a trade-defence measure addressing injurious dumping. Treatment can depend on the product, origin and producer or exporter. Read the relevant regulation and any additional-code distinctions; a goods code and origin alone may not identify the final treatment.

Link to this answer: What is an anti-dumping duty?

What are countervailing or anti-subsidy duties?

These are trade-defence measures addressing injurious subsidised imports. They are different from ordinary customs duty and can apply alongside other measures. The worksheet reproduces the stored measure rather than judging whether a subsidy or a particular producer is involved.

Link to this answer: What are countervailing or anti-subsidy duties?

What is a safeguard measure?

A safeguard addresses increased imports causing or threatening serious injury to domestic industry. It may involve additional duties or quantitative arrangements. It differs from anti-dumping and anti-subsidy action, and its precise scope must be checked in the governing legislation.

Link to this answer: What is a safeguard measure?

What does ad valorem duty mean?

An ad valorem duty is expressed as a percentage of customs value. The app displays the source expression without determining the shipment’s customs value or calculating the payment. A percentage shown in a summary does not include every possible charge.

Link to this answer: What does ad valorem duty mean?

What are specific, compound and minimum or maximum duties?

A specific duty is expressed per unit, such as a weight or quantity. A compound expression combines components, and some expressions set minimum or maximum amounts. Read the complete expression and its units. The app does not simplify complex expressions into a single effective rate.

Link to this answer: What are specific, compound and minimum or maximum duties?

What is customs value?

Customs value is the value determined under customs valuation rules and used as a basis for certain duties. It is not necessarily the invoice total or retail price. Goods Code Watch does not collect shipment valuation details or calculate customs value.

Link to this answer: What is customs value?

What is a TARIC additional code?

An additional code is a separate identifier used to distinguish treatment within a measure, for example a producer-specific treatment or an agricultural component. It does not replace the 10-digit goods code. Where several additional-code rows appear, the app does not choose the right one for your shipment.

Link to this answer: What is a TARIC additional code?

What are Meursing codes and agricultural components?

Meursing additional codes relate to agricultural components for certain processed agricultural goods. The stored record may contain descriptions and duty expressions referring to them. This app preserves that text but has no composition questionnaire or Meursing calculator and does not select a code for you.

Link to this answer: What are Meursing codes and agricultural components?

What are conditions, certificate codes and document codes?

A condition describes a requirement or alternative associated with a measure. Certificate and document codes identify evidence or declarations referred to by the source. Read the condition text as well as the code. The app does not issue certificates, validate documents or confirm that an alternative is available to you.

Link to this answer: What are conditions, certificate codes and document codes?

What is an action code?

An action code identifies the action attached to a source condition, such as the treatment linked to meeting or not meeting that condition. It must be read together with the condition and document information. A code by itself is not an instruction to submit a declaration.

Link to this answer: What is an action code?

What are footnotes and nomenclature footnotes?

Footnotes are coded explanatory or qualifying text linked to measures or goods entries. They can contain information that a short duty summary cannot show. Nomenclature footnotes relate to the goods code itself. Read the full applicable text and follow any references to legislation.

Link to this answer: What are footnotes and nomenclature footnotes?

What are geographical areas, country groups and exclusions?

A measure may apply to a country, a territory or a group of countries. Exclusions can remove particular members from its scope. The app matches the selected origin against the stored area membership and exclusions for the date; it does not simply display every row containing a similar country name.

Link to this answer: What are geographical areas, country groups and exclusions?

What does the other restrictions group include?

This group holds stored measures outside the main duty, preference, quota and trade-remedy groups. Rows may refer to certificates, controls or other import requirements. Their presence does not make the worksheet a complete product-compliance checklist, and their absence does not establish that no other law applies.

Link to this answer: What does the other restrictions group include?

Does a zero duty rate mean there are no costs or requirements?

No. A zero rate concerns the particular duty expression shown. Other measures, documentation, national taxes, fees or conditions may still apply. Review the whole worksheet and official sources rather than treating “0 %” as clearance approval.

Link to this answer: Does a zero duty rate mean there are no costs or requirements?

Worksheet dates, source data and reliability

How to interpret the dates, matching rules and data warnings on a result.

What is the reference date?

The reference date is the day for which you ask the app to resolve code validity and measures. It defaults to today in Europe/Amsterdam. Selecting a different date changes the validity check and the official consultation link; it does not download a new official extract.

Link to this answer: What is the reference date?

What is the last TARIC file date?

It is the date of the latest successfully applied source file recorded by the app. It describes the stored extract’s freshness, not the day you opened the page or a guarantee that every source change is present. Compare it with the reference date and read any stale or incomplete-data notice.

Link to this answer: What is the last TARIC file date?

What are validity start and validity end dates?

These are the stored dates delimiting when an entry or measure applies. They differ from the reference date you selected and the date of the ingested file. A measure can be present in the extract while applying only during part of the time covered by it.

Link to this answer: What are validity start and validity end dates?

Where does the app get its data?

It imports official European Commission bulk TARIC files, including monthly material and daily updates. It does not rely on scraping DDS2 consultation pages. The app selects import data, resolves applicable parent measures, groups the results and omits empty groups.

Link to this answer: Where does the app get its data?

Is the data live, and how often is it updated?

A worksheet reads the app’s stored extract rather than querying the Commission live for each request. The update workflow processes official files, but publication, processing and recovery can introduce delays. The displayed file date and warnings are the evidence of freshness; opening or refreshing a page does not force a source import.

Link to this answer: Is the data live, and how often is it updated?

Why does a worksheet show a different or shorter parent goods code on a row?

Some measures are attached to broader parent headings. The app walks the stored goods hierarchy and applies its cascade rules to find measures for the requested child. The captured row’s goods code shows where that source measure was attached; it does not silently change the goods code you requested.

Link to this answer: Why does a worksheet show a different or shorter parent goods code on a row?

What does “No measures recorded for this origin and reference date” mean?

It means the lookup found no applicable rows in the stored extract for that combination. It is not proof of duty-free treatment, permission to import, or the absence of restrictions. Confirm the code, origin, reference date, file freshness and official consultation before drawing a conclusion.

Link to this answer: What does “No measures recorded for this origin and reference date” mean?

What should I do if the app shows stale or incomplete data?

Treat the warning as a limitation of the stored result. Recheck on the official DDS2 consultation and use the applicable legislation before making a decision. If reporting a problem, include the worksheet URL and the reference and file dates. Reloading cannot repair an incomplete source import.

Link to this answer: What should I do if the app shows stale or incomplete data?

Can I look up historical or future dates?

You can select a reference date, but a result depends on the entries and validity information retained in the current extract. This is not a guaranteed archive of what the app displayed on a past day. Future-dated measures are limited to what has already been imported; the app cannot predict unpublished changes.

Link to this answer: Can I look up historical or future dates?

Why might the official TARIC consultation show something different?

The official service may have newer data. Check that both queries use the same goods code, origin and reference date, and consider additional codes, conditions and parent measures. The app also selects and groups source rows. For a suspected mismatch, send both URLs and dates; the governing legislation takes precedence.

Link to this answer: Why might the official TARIC consultation show something different?

Can I bookmark, share or print a worksheet?

Yes. Copy the worksheet URL, including the reference-date query when you need that date, and use your browser’s print function if useful. A link is a repeatable query against the stored extract, not an immutable certified record. Later imports can change what the same dated URL returns.

Link to this answer: Can I bookmark, share or print a worksheet?

Is a worksheet legally binding, or is it a BTI decision?

No. Binding Tariff Information (BTI) is a classification decision issued by a customs authority. A Goods Code Watch worksheet is not a BTI or a binding origin decision. Use the official authority process when you need a binding determination.

Link to this answer: Is a worksheet legally binding, or is it a BTI decision?

Are descriptions translated or rewritten by the app?

The app displays stored source descriptions and text, with its own navigation and grouping labels. It does not provide a certified translation or rewrite a published producer description as an allegation. Follow the source and legislation when exact wording matters.

Link to this answer: Are descriptions translated or rewritten by the app?

SKU lists and spreadsheet privacy

Check a catalogue of known goods codes without uploading the catalogue file.

What is a SKU?

SKU means stock keeping unit: an identifier your business uses for an item or variation. It is different from a customs goods code. Several SKUs can share a TARIC code, and one SKU may need different checks when its origin changes. The workbench looks up goods codes and origins, not your internal SKU number.

Link to this answer: What is a SKU?

What does the SKU workbench do?

It reads a spreadsheet on your device, lets you confirm the goods-code and origin columns, and looks up detected pairs. The results provide compact measure summaries and links to full worksheets. It does not classify your catalogue, calculate a shipment bill or keep a server copy of the opened file.

Link to this answer: What does the SKU workbench do?

Which files can I open?

The workbench supports CSV, XLSX and XLS files, with a 10 MiB file-size limit. Use columns containing full goods codes and two-letter origins. Try the supplied sample first if you want to see the expected layout. Very large or complex files can also be limited by your browser’s memory.

Link to this answer: Which files can I open?

What is column mapping?

Column mapping tells the workbench which column holds goods codes and which holds origins. Confirm the detected choices before looking up rows, especially if your sheet also includes supplier, dispatch-country or internal article-code columns. The goods-code and origin columns must be different.

Link to this answer: What is column mapping?

What does hydrate mean in the workbench?

“Hydrate” means retrieve the available measure summary for a detected goods-code and origin pair. It enriches the on-screen list with lookup results; it does not upload the spreadsheet or fill in missing classification facts.

Link to this answer: What does hydrate mean in the workbench?

Does my spreadsheet leave my device?

No. File parsing happens in your browser. The lookup request sends detected goods codes, origins and row numbers needed to associate results, rather than the original file. SKU names, supplier details, quantities and prices in other columns stay on your device. Code-and-origin pairs sent for lookup are still data processed by the service.

Link to this answer: Does my spreadsheet leave my device?

Why are some spreadsheet rows locked?

Lookup hydrates the first 5 matched rows; remaining matched rows stay locked on that plan. An unmatched or invalid row is different from a locked match. Watch and API are designed to hydrate all matched rows in the opened list, subject to request limits. Those subscriptions are currently closed, so an upgrade cannot be purchased now.

Link to this answer: Why are some spreadsheet rows locked?

Why is a row unmatched or invalid?

The goods code may not resolve in the stored nomenclature for the date, the origin may be invalid, or the wrong columns may be selected. Check leading zeros, decimal or scientific notation introduced by spreadsheet software, and two-letter origins. A failed match does not prove that the goods are unregulated.

Link to this answer: Why is a row unmatched or invalid?

Does the spreadsheet summary show every measure?

No. It is a compact view of selected fields such as third-country duty, a quota order number, an anti-dumping indicator and document codes. Open the full worksheet to read all returned groups, conditions, footnotes, additional-code rows and dates. A short summary is not a compliance decision.

Link to this answer: Does the spreadsheet summary show every measure?

Does the app save my catalogue or synchronize it with my ERP?

No. The workbench is a browser tool, not a hosted catalogue or automatic ERP synchronization service. Keep your source file yourself and reopen it for another check. Its copy action copies identifiers; there is no promise of a complete enriched spreadsheet export. Persistent watches are saved separately as code-and-origin pairs.

Link to this answer: Does the app save my catalogue or synchronize it with my ERP?

Watches and change emails

How the Watch and API plans are designed to work when subscriptions open. They cannot currently be purchased.

What is a watch?

A watch is a saved combination of one goods code and one origin. The same code from two origins counts as two watches. It monitors the stored applicable-measure snapshot for that pair, rather than a SKU file, a supplier or every possible customs rule.

Link to this answer: What is a watch?

How many watches does each plan include?

Lookup has no persistent watches. Watch allows up to 100 saved code-and-origin pairs, and API allows up to 500. The watch count is separate from spreadsheet row counts and REST API calls. These are the planned subscription entitlements; paid subscriptions are not open.

Link to this answer: How many watches does each plan include?

How do I create or remove a watch?

With an eligible paid plan, use the worksheet’s watch control or the workbench’s action for hydrated rows, then manage saved pairs on the account Watches page. The app checks your plan and watch cap. Public Lookup can open the same worksheet but cannot persist a watch.

Link to this answer: How do I create or remove a watch?

What changes can trigger an email?

The app compares tracked fields in the stored snapshot, including measure identities, duty expressions, condition document and action codes, footnote codes and text, quota order numbers and additional codes. It detects added, removed or changed tracked rows. It does not monitor every textual or legal change on every Commission website.

Link to this answer: What changes can trigger an email?

Are watch emails instant?

No. The service is designed to report changes at the next morning’s run after a weekday update. It compares the successfully processed stored snapshot on that cadence, rather than providing a real-time stream. Publication, processing and email delivery can cause delays; no particular inbox arrival time is guaranteed.

Link to this answer: Are watch emails instant?

Will I receive an email every day, or when I first add a watch?

Not simply because a day passed. Adding a watch establishes the baseline for later comparisons. A run with no tracked change sends no watch email. A new or removed tracked measure can trigger a later change notice, but a lack of email is not independent proof that the official tariff is unchanged.

Link to this answer: Will I receive an email every day, or when I first add a watch?

Does the change email show exact old and new duty values?

The email reports added, removed or updated measure types and links to the worksheet. It is not a complete side-by-side archive of every field value. Open the result, check its dates and verify on DDS2 before deciding what the change means for a shipment.

Link to this answer: Does the change email show exact old and new duty values?

What if an expected change email does not arrive?

Check the account’s saved pair and plan, spam filtering, and the worksheet’s file date and warnings. The source may not yet have been processed or the changed detail may be outside the tracked fields. Failed deliveries can be retried, but the service is best effort. Recheck the official consultation and contact support with the pair and dates if needed.

Link to this answer: What if an expected change email does not arrive?

How can I stop watch emails?

Remove or deactivate the relevant watch in your account, or use the unsubscribe link provided in a watch email. Stopping a watch is separate from managing a subscription or the one-time subscription-opening preference. Closing the account also stops watches.

Link to this answer: How can I stop watch emails?

Plans, subscriptions, payments and cancellation

Understand current availability and the boundaries of the paid service before buying.

Can I subscribe to Watch or API now?

No. Watch and API subscriptions are currently closed. Public euro prices and checkout are not available. You can use public Lookup and the limited SKU preview; this FAQ does not enable paid features or announce a launch date.

Link to this answer: Can I subscribe to Watch or API now?

What is the difference between Lookup, Watch and API?

Lookup provides public worksheets and the first 5 matched SKU rows. Watch adds all matched rows in the opened list and up to 100 watches with change emails. API adds REST snapshot access and API keys, up to 500 watches and 10,000 REST calls per calendar month. Paid-plan features remain subject to availability and service limits.

Link to this answer: What is the difference between Lookup, Watch and API?

How much do subscriptions cost?

Paid amounts are not being published while subscriptions are closed. Pricing shows the plan features and current availability. There is no checkout to pay through now; use that page for the current offer when subscriptions open.

Link to this answer: How much do subscriptions cost?

Will there be monthly and annual billing?

The catalogue supports monthly and annual billing. When subscriptions are open, review the selected period, payment total and renewal information in Pricing and checkout. Do not assume that an annual subscription is a monthly instalment plan or that switching periods has a particular proration policy.

Link to this answer: Will there be monthly and annual billing?

Is Lookup a free trial, and do I need a payment card?

Public Lookup is free access, not a time-limited paid trial, and it does not require a payment card. No paid trial is being offered by this FAQ. Creating a free account or choosing an opening-email preference does not itself buy a subscription.

Link to this answer: Is Lookup a free trial, and do I need a payment card?

Who is Paddle, and who handles payment?

Paddle is the merchant of record for paid purchases: the purchase contract and payment handling are through Paddle, while Goods Code Watch provides the software service. The app receives subscription identifiers and status needed to apply your plan; it does not store your card number.

Link to this answer: Who is Paddle, and who handles payment?

How are VAT, payment methods and invoices handled?

For an available paid purchase, checkout shows supported payment methods and the applicable tax and total. Paddle handles merchant-of-record billing documents and purchase data. Supply accurate billing details and consult the checkout or customer portal for your transaction. The app does not determine your business’s tax treatment.

Link to this answer: How are VAT, payment methods and invoices handled?

How do renewals and cancellation work?

Before purchasing, read the renewal period and cancellation terms shown at checkout and in Paddle’s Buyer Terms. When available, the account Billing page links to Paddle’s customer portal for subscription management. Confirm the effective date and any remaining access in the portal; merely stopping a watch does not cancel billing.

Link to this answer: How do renewals and cancellation work?

Can I get a refund or use withdrawal rights?

Our Refund policy explains how to request a refund or withdrawal through Paddle and how cancellation differs from a refund. Eligibility depends on Paddle’s purchase terms and applicable law; mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected. Have your transaction reference and purchase email ready when requesting help.

Link to this answer: Can I get a refund or use withdrawal rights?

Can I upgrade, downgrade or change my billing period?

Use the available options on Pricing or in the billing portal when subscriptions are open. Review the effective date, charge or credit and feature changes shown before confirming. This FAQ does not promise a particular proration arrangement or availability of every change while subscriptions are closed.

Link to this answer: Can I upgrade, downgrade or change my billing period?

Are watches or API calls unlimited? What happens at a limit?

No. Watch caps are 100 for Watch and 500 for API. The API plan has 10,000 REST calls per calendar month and rate limits. At a limit, further relevant actions can be refused; the REST API returns a quota or rate-limit error instead of selling automatic overage. All matched SKU rows does not mean unlimited file size or request size.

Link to this answer: Are watches or API calls unlimited? What happens at a limit?

Why has my plan not updated after a payment?

Paid access depends on confirmed subscription information, not only a checkout success screen. Check that you are signed in to the purchasing account, then revisit Billing. If the problem persists, contact support with the transaction reference and account email. Never send full card details or an API key.

Link to this answer: Why has my plan not updated after a payment?

How do I manage the one-time subscription-opening email?

Sign in and use the opening-email preference shown on Pricing or Billing. The current account flow starts new accounts opted in; you can turn it off before the notice is sent. This is separate from watch alerts and is not a purchase. No opening date or notice delivery is promised here.

Link to this answer: How do I manage the one-time subscription-opening email?

Does closing my account cancel a paid subscription?

Account closure stops watches, revokes API keys and signs you out. It is not a substitute for cancelling the separate Paddle purchase. If you have an active paid subscription, manage and confirm cancellation in the billing portal before closing the app account, or contact support for help.

Link to this answer: Does closing my account cancel a paid subscription?

Accounts, sign-in, privacy and deletion

What an account is for and how your information is handled.

How do I create an account or sign in?

Use the Sign in page and request a magic link at an email address you control. Google and Microsoft sign-in may also appear when enabled. Opening the email link verifies access to that mailbox. Public lookup remains available without completing sign-in.

Link to this answer: How do I create an account or sign in?

What does a free account give me?

It provides an authenticated account area, your current plan and the opening-email preference. Paid entitlements are separate: signing in on Lookup does not remove the SKU preview cap, create persistent watches or unlock API keys. Account pages clearly show the current plan.

Link to this answer: What does a free account give me?

What personal data does the service process?

This includes account email and authentication data, opening-email preference, saved watch pairs, API-key and usage information where applicable, subscription identifiers and short operational logs. The original SKU file is not uploaded. Read the Privacy notice for purposes, recipients, retention and rights.

The current app uses necessary authentication and security storage. It has no advertising, analytics or live-chat cookies and no cookie wall. This describes the present app; the Privacy notice is the place to review its data practices.

Who operates the app and which providers receive data?

The publisher is Snoeters Software. The Privacy notice identifies Contabo for hosting, Resend for transactional email and Paddle as merchant of record. Paddle is an independent controller for its payment data. These roles do not mean your original spreadsheet is uploaded to those providers.

How do I delete my account, and what happens next?

Use Close account on Billing. The app immediately disables watches, revokes API keys and removes sessions, then marks the account for deletion after the 30-day retention period. Address any separate paid subscription first. Public TARIC records are source data and are not removed by closing your account.

How do I request access, correction or deletion of personal data?

Contact privacy@snoeterssoftware.nl with your request. Do not send passwords, sign-in links, card details or API secrets. The Privacy notice explains access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and the relevant supervisory authority.

REST API, keys, quotas and integrations

The API plan’s integration features are described here for reference; subscriptions are currently closed.

What are an API, REST and JSON?

An application programming interface (API) lets software request data from another service. REST is an approach that uses web requests to resources. JSON is the structured text format used for responses. In this app, the paid REST endpoint returns the stored measure snapshot rather than a calculated customs bill.

Which plan includes REST access, and what does the endpoint return?

The API plan includes authenticated GET /api/v1/measures requests using a goods code, origin and optional date. Responses include reference and file dates, an official consultation URL and grouped measure rows with duty expressions, conditions, footnotes, legal bases, quota identifiers and additional codes. Lookup and Watch do not include this REST access.

How do API keys work?

An eligible API-plan account can create and revoke keys on the API keys page. The secret is shown when created; the app stores a hash rather than a retrievable secret. Keep it on a trusted server, send it as a Bearer credential, and never place it in public browser code, a shared worksheet URL or an email to support.

What are the REST API quota and rate limit?

The API plan includes 10,000 calls per calendar month for the account, with a rate limit of 60 requests per minute per key. Creating more keys does not create additional monthly account quota. Watch capacity and SKU preview limits are separate allowances.

What do API errors such as 401, 403, 404 and 429 mean?

Generally, 401 indicates a missing or invalid credential, 403 insufficient access, 404 an unresolved requested resource, and 429 a rate or quota limit. Read the response’s error code and message for the specific cause. Validate inputs and reduce request frequency instead of retrying a refused request in a tight loop.

Is the SKU hydrate request the same as the paid REST API?

No. The workbench uses a pair-lookup request to support its browser workflow and plan-based preview. The paid REST snapshot endpoint is separate and requires API-plan credentials. Seeing a workbench network request does not grant an unlimited bulk interface or the paid monthly allowance.

Can the app push changes to my system, synchronize an ERP or provide a bulk dump?

The current product provides the browser workbench, saved watches with email and the API-plan REST snapshot endpoint. It does not offer customer change webhooks, automatic ERP connectors or a public bulk database download. An integration must stay within the available endpoint, plan quota and terms.

Is the API fresher or more authoritative than a worksheet?

No. Both resolve the app’s stored data and matching rules. Inspect the dates returned by the API just as you would on a worksheet. API access does not remove source delays, create a binding customs decision or make the service a duty calculator.

Troubleshooting, support and official verification

Practical next steps when a result is missing, unclear or inconsistent.

Why is my goods code not found?

Check the full 10 digits, leading zeros and reference date. The number may be a parent heading, a code from another jurisdiction, an expired or future entry, or absent from the current extract. Search descriptions to inspect stored candidates, but confirm classification independently rather than choosing a similar-looking code.

Why is my origin rejected?

Check that it is a supported two-letter country or territory code, rather than a full name or group identifier. Stored country validity also matters for the requested date. Do not substitute the dispatch country simply to obtain a result.

Why am I being asked to slow down?

Public search, workbench lookup and API access have abuse-prevention or usage limits. Wait before trying again and avoid repeatedly submitting the same request. A temporary rate limit differs from a plan’s row, watch or monthly API quota; the displayed message helps identify which limit applies.

How do I report a data mismatch or a named-organisation correction?

Email info@snoeterssoftware.nl with the app URL, goods code, origin, reference date, file date and the official source URL for the same query. Explain the specific row or text that differs. Published producer or organisation descriptions are source reprints; corrections concern a mismatch in this app’s index, rather than rewriting an accurate official record.

How do I contact support about the app or billing?

Email info@snoeterssoftware.nl. For an app issue, include the page and a description of what happened. For a purchase issue, include the transaction reference and account email. Remove confidential spreadsheet contents and never send API keys, magic links or card numbers. No particular support response time is promised here.

What should I check before relying on a result for an import?

Confirm your classification and origin, compare the reference and file dates, review every applicable measure and condition, and verify the same query in DDS2. Check the governing legislation, any quota availability and shipment-specific evidence. Use a customs professional or authority when you need advice or a binding decision.

Does this FAQ replace the Terms, Privacy notice or official legislation?

No. It explains the service and terminology. The linked Terms, Privacy notice, source notice and purchase terms set out their respective details, and official legislation governs customs requirements. A paid plan adds product features; it does not make a worksheet official, binding or a guarantee of clearance.
